Grateful Friday

A spoon does not know the taste of soup,
nor a learned fool the taste of wisdom.

As we all continue on this mysterious journey of our life, I am grateful.

I am grateful for the wisdom of others.

I am grateful for the opportunity to share my ideas and thoughts with others.

I'm grateful for smiles, warm hugs and afternoons sitting in the sun on a pier.

I'm grateful for technology and that I'm living in this time to enjoy it.

I'm grateful to see and appreciate beauty around me.

I'm grateful when it's time to go to bed and temporarily taste true rest.

I'm grateful when it's time to arise to a new morning.

I'm grateful for my bestie, who diligently tries to take care of me.

I'm grateful for personality profiles, admission forms and opportunities to do it together.

Words form the thread on which we string our experiences.
~Aldous Huxley

I'm grateful for the opportunity to sing and praise our LORD despite my weakness.

I'm grateful to once again be studying Hebrew.

I'm grateful for memories, because what I so fondly remember no longer exists.

I'm grateful for steno pads, mechanical pencils and four-function calculators.

I'm grateful for my history.

I'm grateful for modern medicine.

I'm grateful for the freedom to take a day for fun.

I'm grateful for love...even if it is only our finite view. There is so much more to love than we can even begin to imagine. Love your mate, yes...and then love others, too. Serve, grow, mature...then love. (Amazingly, I'm pretty sure Paul, in the 1 Corinthians passage, isn't talking about marital love - just a thought.)

I'm grateful for upcoming plans.

I'm grateful for times of refreshing and a renewing of my mind.

I'm grateful for alone times when I can commune with my LORD.

I'm grateful that I can feel grateful.

What are you grateful for this week?

I may speak in the tongues of men, even angels; but if I lack love, I have become merely blaring brass or a cymbal clanging. I may have the gift of prophecy, I may fathom all mysteries, know all things, have all faith - enough to move mountains; but if I lack love, I am nothing. I may give away everything that I own, I may even hand over my body to be burned; but if I lack love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient and kind, not jealous, not boastful, not proud, rude or selfish, not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not gloat over other people's sins but takes its delight in the truth. Love always bears up, always trusts, always hopes, always endures.

Love never ends; but prophecies will pass, tongues will cease, knowledge will pass. For our knowledge is partial, and our prophecy partial; but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass. When I was a child, I spoke like a child, thought like a child, argued like a child; now that I have become a man, I have finished with childish ways.

For now we see obscurely in a mirror, but then it will be face to face. Now I know partly; then I will know fully, just as God has fully known me. But for now, three things last trust, hope, love; and the greatest of these is love.

~1 Corinthians, chapter 13

Let us not take the easy way, the short-sighted human way, and think we are commanded to only love our wives, husbands or children, or think that love's sole purpose is for romance and adult intimacy. Let us maturely love those around us in the fullest sense of the word, just as the Sovereign One intended. In this way, we can truly begin to honor the image from which we were made.

Do the hardest thing - love.

Just in case I don't say it enough....I love you!! I'm grateful that God gave me my sister as an adult so we get to spend the rest of our lives being friends and loving one another as sisters.

So thankful for a long overdue conversation with a friend yesterday morning. I'm not sure which of us needed it more -- it was spontaneous and deeply refreshing.

Your thoughts on love were amazingly timed, my friend. God is so good.

I'm so very grateful for healing and growth that only the Holy One can give.

I'm grateful for the past days of sunshine - may they come again soon!

I'm grateful for times to dig around in the dirt making things tidy and planning for my little, round bouquets.
