MISSION REPORT: Starlight Parade in Portland

What a wonderful troop! Padawan and I accompanied Master Obi-Wan Kenobi (disguised as Old Ben) down to the beautiful Rose City to participate in the oh-so-fun Starlight Parade. This was our second time of marching in this nighttime affair, although it has been a couple of years. Absolutely love the people of Portland who come out and cheer on the marching bands, dancers, drill teams and charities that parade through the streets of downtown. I had way too much fun struttin' a little Jedi attitude, swingin' that lightsaber and makin' kids of all ages smile.

We did manage to snap a few pics with my phone camera while we were 'staged' and waiting for our turn to go...

It was an honor to troop alongside the Cloud City Garrison once again - what a great group of costumers!

(Oh, and "the tradition" is a sweet one.)

I so much enjoyed traveling with my Jedi companions to and from Portland. It was kind of different to be a passenger after many years as a driver. I also loved the serious discussions and the lighthearted laughter. It's good to be one of the girls. (Sounds like a line from Mel Brooks.)
I was also surprised at how easy the parade walk was with the enthusiasm of the crowds to drive us on. To some degree I believe the adage that you are only as old as you think you are. When I'm trooping with my friends, youth has returned... even if only briefly.
Looking forward to other opportunities to share time with my girls. ;-)
