It's an Election Year, Unfortunately.

Well, I'm positive that the writer of this pithy thought didn't have politicians in mind, but it sure fits. For me, just one appearance on David Letterman can blow a candidate in my mind, regardless of party affiliation. Come on...everyone knows they are only on the show for publicity and to win votes. Trying to come across that they are just the same as the average-joe-voter livin' large in the vinyl recliner with a beer in his hand and his dog snorin' in his lap is irksome, to say the least.

As my son and I walked into the doctor's waiting room this morning, I was immediately assaulted with the mid-day talk show called The View. You may be familiar with it. Personally, I could care less about the show, their political agenda or the going hairstyle of the day. However, what caught my attention was their guest - none other than the President of the United States. I was so disgusted that I turned to my son and acidly asked, "doesn't the President have anything better to do?" The question was rhetorical and the answer is, and was, a resounding "apparently not". It is clear that it is far more important for the sitting President to ensure votes for another term than it is to solve more pressing issues such as the rising cost of oil, tax reform, and international relations. Oh, and let's not pretend like campaigning for another term is part of his job description, especially when he is still holding the title of the office until the end of this year. Yes, I know it's all part of the game, but I don't have to like it. I just wish politicians had to play by the rules like the rest of us regular citizens.
"I hate it when the president...regardless of party...spends his time shmoozing on mid-day (or better yet, late night) talk shows. Why is this necessary? Does he not have better things to do? Why can't there be a separation of the office of the president and cheesy media propaganda (couched as entertainment) that is used to sell laundry soap and car insurance? It just seems like the office of the president has turned into a celebrity position and a joke, not only to American citizens, but to all abroad, as well."

Which brings me back to the wisdom at the top of this post.
I don't trust any of them.
There is no justification for their obvious and blatant corrupt and self-serving behavior.
None of them deserve our support or vote, and no one can convince me otherwise.
I hate politics.

I heartily agree with you! I used to believe my vote actually made a difference - no more being naive.
