Dreamin'

Could it even be possible to take another road trip across the country? We sure would like to and are dreaming of spring 2010, around the same timeframe as our 2008 Biggest Field Trip Ever. The kids and I have been brainstorming the possibilities of where we would like to stop as we meander across the country towards Mississippi. (So what's in Mississippi, you ask? Meemaw, of course!)

We are thinking that driving down through Oregon would be a good way to start, as we LOVE the Oregon coast. Then continuing through the Siskyous in Northern California and seeing some of the coastline of that huge state and maybe the famous Redwoods. Morgan mentioned Hollywood, but I'm unsure of how far into Los Angeles we want to get. Unfortunately, theme parks are crossed off the list...too expensive! Yosemite National Park would be a wonderful place to stop - definitely on the list. My parents went there last year, and really enjoyed it.

Perhaps then crossing over to Nevada and letting the kids see the bright lights of Las Vegas. Or maybe we could actually check out the Grand Canyon this time...we can add it to the list; we are just brainstorming, y'know.

Houston would be a must-stop to see our friend, Dewberry and her family...oh, and the Alamo. Surely Louisiana to see Mama Cache and her wonderful family (perhaps we could actually stop at that Jewish cemetery this time). Not sure I want to go to New Orleans again, though - been there, done that. After that, a glorious week with Meemaw in southern Mississippi. *smile* Kentucky is also on the list; we drove through in a massive thunderstorm last time and didn't get to see much. Plus, good friends of ours, the Hackett's, live in Kentucky and we'd love to stop and say 'hi!' (would it be too much to ask to spend a Shabbat with them?) Another friend, Insane Music Lover, is in Tennessee, so we might would have to stop and say hi to her, Rockin' Lunch Lady and Mstrwndl, as well.

So, after that, I don't know! North towards the Great Lakes would be fun, but other than that, I will have to look at a map and see where it takes us. Or, we could take a diagonal across the country back towards the PNW. We really couldn't go much farther east, unless we were gonna add more time to the trip. Last time it was four weeks, and it was jam-packed! I'd definitely like to hit more Nat'l Parks; there are so many gems I want to see and explore. Hey, how would it be if we actually had time to letterbox along the way? *ooooohhhhh*

I feel energized just thinking about it. In talking to Meemaw about the possibility, she said the 'bed & breakfast' is definitely available! I would like to take some time, while in Mississippi, to explore Jackson, as well.

I'm so hopeful that we can do this again. Hey, gasoline is half the price of what it was the last time, so that's a plus!

Here's to dreamin'...

Well, I think you should come to Georgia and go to Stone Mountain. Not a National Park, but amazing all the same :)

What? Two road trips and no stopping in the North East to see the Mice? Are we going to have to move to the mid-west just to get on the road trip list? We will plant a box...maybe even a series in your honor and hold a gather to recognise your trip if you want to swing by the FAMOUS Hudson Valley and walk the longest pedestrian bridge in the world. Hint.

3 Blind Mice
Oh, how I wish we could come all the way to you, my dear 3 Blind Mice - you guys are awesome! :-)
