A Restful Shabbat...Day 16

A much needed rest today was had at our good friends' home in Louisiana. We talked, snacked, played, walked, rested, watched movies and carved a little. We even got to get online to enjoy Shabbat service from home. Below are just a few pics from the day - Shabbat Shalom!

It's important to be heroic, ambitious, productive, efficient, creative, and progressive, but these qualities don't necessarily nurture the soul. The soul has different concerns, of equal value: downtime for reflection, conversation, and reverie; beauty that is captivating and pleasuring; relatedness to the environs and to people; and any animal's rhythm of rest and activity.

~Thomas Moore

How beautiful it is to do nothing, and then to rest afterward.

~Spanish Proverb

To seek approval is to have no resting place, no sanctuary. Like all judgment, approval encourages a constant striving. It makes us uncertain of who we are and of our true value. Approval cannot be trusted. It can be withdrawn at any time no matter what our track record has been. It is as nourishing of real growth as cotton candy. Yet many of us spend our lives pursuing it.

-Rachel Naomi Remen

He who does not get fun and enjoyment out of every day needs to reorganize his life.

The quotations are wonderful! What finds!

We enjoyed your company immensely. (Can someone use the word "immensely" and still feel like it's an understatement? ;-))

You, Lisa, and your children are quite special to us.

Have a good week!!!

what card game is that?
That card game is the rather fast-paced Nerts...pretty popular in our circles (although I'm not much of a card player myself). :-)
